Welcome to Undercroft Cafe, a hidden gem nestled beneath the breathtaking Painted Hall in London. This charming cafe is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Located on College Way, just a stone's throw away from some of London’s finest attractions, Undercroft is an oasis of calm, inviting food lovers and coffee enthusiasts alike to unwind.

The atmosphere at Undercroft Cafe is both cozy and welcoming. With its soft ambient lighting and ample seating, it creates an inviting space that encourages you to linger. Judging by the reviews, guests have enjoyed both the serene setting and the friendly service. As Stuart Wigley aptly noted, it’s a “nice quiet cafe away from the bustle elsewhere,” where you can sip on a delightful cup of Earl Grey and bask in the beautiful surroundings.

While the menu offers a range of reasonably priced drinks and pastries, one of the standout deals is the cake and coffee pairing, which according to Fato DC, is “not bad at all!” Indulging in a slice of their delectable cake alongside a cup of decent coffee makes for a perfect afternoon break. Ali Saremi mentions the selection of pastries available, contributing to the overall vibe of respite for anyone seeking solace in a busy day. Imagine treating yourself to a delicious treat while surrounded by artful masterpieces — what could be better?

Caye Yambao's visit to the Painted Hall, right before experiencing the floating moon exhibit, highlights the unique opportunity visitors have to enjoy a culinary treat after taking in some of London’s artistic treasures. Even if time is short, stopping by Undercroft Cafe will surely enhance your experience of the historical grandeur above.

While some reviews suggest that the cafe has a cafeteria-like feel, the ambiance doesn't detract from its charm. Rather, it’s a place designed for you to relax with friends, indulge in pastries, and fuel up for your next adventure in the city. As Graham Short mentions, despite its cafeteria vibe, it's still a good spot for a quick coffee or tea — ideal for those on the go.

Whether you’re a local or a tourist, if you find yourself near the Painted Hall, don’t miss out on the cozy refuge of Undercroft Cafe. With its delectable offerings, friendly service, and unique surroundings, it’s sure to become a favorite stop on your London journey.

Witnessed the floating moon in the Painted hall just before the exhibit was finished. For a selenophile, it was a dream being there. The painted hall itself was a masterpiece. Worth everh quid I spent. Ticket costs 13quids per person. Was not able to try their food

A small cafe in the basement of Painted Hall, selling reasonably-priced drinks and pastry. Lots of seats available.
